All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you pick up your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies, the Rental Agreement will take precedence over these Terms.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Bath, drivers must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions differing by vehicle type. A valid driving licence appropriate for the selected vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Customers must present valid identification and proof of address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional conditions may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Bath office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is typically required at the time of vehicle collection. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with a nominal administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All vehicle rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available, potentially lowering your financial responsibility. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Negligence, misuse, or breaches of these Terms will remain your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses for Your Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, adhere to passenger and weight limits, and do not operate the vehicle outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bath cannot be held liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your engagement with our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services implies acceptance of the revised Terms.
